How the AWF Ranking System works

In AWF, rankings help the bookers determine title shots and match-ups, amoung other things. Since there are only two titles (plus tag team titles) -- by design -- ranks are VERY important in this fed.

So, it is fundamental that you fully understand how the rankings system works.

Wrestlers are awarded:

3 points for a victory over a wrestler ranked in the top 5 (1-5).

2 points for a victory over a wrestler ranked below the the top 5 (6 - 30).

1 point for a loss to a wrestler ranked in the top 5.

0 points for a loss to a wrestler outside the top 5.

Now, here's the twist to all of this. Wrestlers won't just be ranked based on in-ring performance. Promos will count, too. For quality (regardless of the number, but purely based on quality) of promos, wrestlers will be awarded 1-2 additional bonus points during a week, and the staff will determine how many points you will be rewarded.

Tag team wins do count in individual rankings. But the points awarded may be split if the tag team has a wrestler ranked in the top 10 and another one ranked below the top 10. A win in this situation would give the winning team mid-range points (not the highest, but not the lowest).

So, here's an example of fake wrestlers earning points:

VENGEANCE WEEK 1

Wrestler W vs. 1-5 W vs. 6-30 L vs. 1-5 L vs. 6-30 Promo bonus TOTAL PTS.
John Doe n/a 2 n/a n/a 1 3
Willie Shoes 3 n/a n/a n/a 1 4
Bob Jones n/a n/a n/a 0 2 2
Terry Mann n/a n/a 1 n/a 0 1

VENGEANCE WEEK 2

Wrestler W vs. 1-5 W vs. 6-30 L vs. 1-5 L vs. 6-30 Promo bonus TOTAL PTS.
John Doe 3 n/a n/a n/a 2 5
Willie Shoes n/a n/a n/a 0 1 1
Bob Jones n/a 2 n/a n/a 0 2
Terry Mann n/a n/a 1 n/a 1 2

OVERALL POINTS (and rankings)

Wrestler Total points Ranking
John Doe 8 1
Willie Shoes 5 2
Bob Jones 4 3
Terry Mann 3 4

With this system, wrestlers are rewarded in two ways. Even if they gain no points by losing to a wrestler outside the top 5, they can still earn as many as two points by promoing hard that week. So, there really can be no losers if you play the game right (ie. You can lose and still win). Make sense?

MAJOR NOTE: every three months, rankings points will be cleared to zero. This allows for newcomers to not be in a big hole and without any possibility of catching up to longtimers. But, where you finish in the rankings will allow you to start over with a certain number of points based on where you are in the rankings so you can keep your current ranking (ie. No. 1 gets 5 points, No. 2 gets 4 points, No. 3 gets 3 points, and so on. Everyone below No. 5 gets zero points.
